The patient receives an SMS or email reminder with the meeting link 24 hours and 15 minutes before the appointment. No manual coordination needed.
Doctor Opens the Consultation
The doctor launches the video session from their ProtonEMR dashboard. The patient's full EMR — history, medications, lab results — is loaded beside the video feed automatically.
Prescribe, Note & Follow Up
During or after the call, the doctor writes e-prescriptions, adds SOAP notes, orders lab tests, and schedules follow-ups — all saved to the patient record in real time.
Common Questions
Do patients need to install an app?
No. Patients join via a link in their browser — Chrome, Safari, or Firefox on any device. No app store, no signup required.
Is the video call recorded?
Recording is not available for now.
What happens if the connection drops?
Agora's SDK automatically attempts to reconnect. The meeting link remains valid so both parties can rejoin the same room without generating a new link.
Can multiple participants join the same session?
No. Currently multiple participants can not join same session.
How is patient data protected?
All video/audio streams are encrypted end-to-end. Room tokens are single-use and expire after the session ends.
Does it work with existing ProtonEMR appointments?
Yes — it's fully integrated. Any appointment can be designated as a teleconsult. The video link is generated automatically and the encounter is logged in the same workflow as in-person visits.
